Telltale Games has easily become one of the most prolific game developers in recent years with stellar output like the The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, as well as other franchises like Game of Thrones and Minecraft. The property with the biggest name yet is set to debut next week with Batman: The Telltale Series and it comes with one brand new feature, multiplayer.

Telltale’s previous outings have been single player experiences where you are the one making each and every decision. However, starting with Batman: The Telltale Series, that decision process can be expanded to other players now if you so choose.

According to Shack News that spoke with Telltale at San Diego Comic Con, their latest game will introduce what is known as Crowd Play into the mix.

Rather than being a multiplayer where two players are controlling someone, or alternating playing, Crowd Play allows 2 to 2,000 players to make the decision. This is done by choosing Crowd Play at the start of a play session, which will generate a url that you can give and have others vote on. This will not only be great for friends getting together to play, but even more for streamers that use it with their viewers. There a few options here, with one allowing the vote to be the final vote, while another lets the player make the final say still.

According to this report, Crowd Play will be implemented into all future Telltale Games titles moving forward as well. This makes a lot of sense as it’s something simple enough to where it doesn’t mess with the gameplay much at all.

Look for Batman: The Telltale Series to launch next Tuesday, August 2 to get your first try of Crowd Play.
