Bethesda’s announcement of The Evil Within 2 was one of the bigger moments of E3 2017, marking a moment that both surprised and delighted fans. The reveal trailer gave us a nice feel for the game and its dark, violent atmosphere, but today sees the release of a brand new gameplay trailer for The Evil Within 2. Featuring a lot of story elements, the trailer also gives us a good look at some of the new monsters you’ll be fighting, as well as the weapons you’ll use to dispatch them.

Titled The Evil Within 2 “Survive”, this newest trailer catches us up with Sebastian as he deals with his guilt about his daughter Lily. “‘It’s all your fault…’ That’s the mantra running through Sebastian Castellanos’ mind,” reads the description.

“Plagued by memories of the daughter he couldn’t save and a mystery he could never solve, he begins to lose himself in his past mistakes. Sebastian lives out his nightmares every day, unable to pull himself from his downward spiral. Until an old friend-turned-traitor reenters his life with an offer: Return to the nightmare and save your daughter. The Evil Within 2 gives a broken man the chance to make things right and find the peace he so deserves, but he’ll have to go through hell first.”

The first game had horror fans excited thanks to its pedigree and promise of a return to true psychological terror. Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is behind the helm once again, and while some felt the first game didn’t deliver on its total potential, this sequel shows some big promise here.

The Evil Within 2 hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 13th.
