Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 3 exclusive, The Last Of Us, has been crowned Best Game of 2013 by Amazon. Their top ten ‘Best of 2013 Video Games’ can be found here, along with a brief description of why they made the final cut. Here’s the basic list:
- 1 – The Last of Us
- 2 – Rogue Legacy
- 3 – The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
- 4 – Tearaway
- 5 – Grand Theft Auto V
- 6 – Bioshock Infinite
- 7 – Rayman Legends
- 8 – Divekick
- 9 – Super Mario 3D World
- 10 – Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
In a poll run by Amazon earlier in the year, Skyrim was voted as the best game of (what is now) the previous generation by the public, narrowly beating The Last of Us, which finished second. However, Naughty Dog’s creation has won numerous other Editor’s awards and GOTYs. Here is a small except from Amazon, explaining their decision;
“This is the final argument in the debate over video games as art. The argument against was already pretty thin, but when faced with a game as rich in characterization and pathos as The Last of Us, it vanishes completely. Ellie and Joel are two of the most well-rounded, human characters in modern popular fiction.”
An Honorable Mentions section can be found at the foot of the page, with includes Tomb Raider, DOTA 2, Metro Last Light and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. As with Amazon’s aforementioned previous poll, none of games to make the final cut were Microsoft exclusives. This was exclusively Amazon’s opinion, but what do you think is the best game of the year? Were there any games you thought were should’ve made the top 10 but didn’t?
