The embargo has not yet lifted on reviews for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us. But Empire, a UK publication that specializes in film has broken it by releasing the first review of the soon-to-be-released title. There’s nothing but glowing praise for The Last of Us, with the publication deeming it one of the best games of the generation.

The review was only up for a short time, and has since been pulled down, but some quotes were captured by those who got a chance to read it. Empire writes: “The Last of Us is not just the finest game that Naughty Dog has yet crafted and an easy contender for the best game of this console generation, it may also prove to be gaming’s Citizen Kane moment.”

The site gave the game a perfect 5/5, claiming that The Last of Us will be a game that is “looked back upon favorably for decades.”

Strong praise indeed, but Naughty Dog is getting used to that by now, no? The Last of Us is due out in mid-June, exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
