Falcom has officially unveiled the fourth and final chapter in the The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series, which as previous information pointed out, will represent the end of the story. The game is set to release exclusively on PS4 by fall 2018 in Japan, and based on fiscal reports of the company it’s expected to arrive around September. The company has not shared a trailer yet, but it does have released some screenshots.
This fourth and final chapter follows the story after the end of Trails of Cold Steel III, bringing the series to a conclusion that seems definitive by the words of the developers. This is the official synopsis of the game, but beware of spoilers if you are not familiar with the events of the third entry: “Due to the invocation of the “Great Inal Twilight” a terrible curse has been unleashed on the Empire. Even the Grey Knight Rean Schwarzer has lost himself, swallowed by demonic power. As the world hurtles towards the end, what will the old and new members of Class VII do?”
Falcom has already confirmed the release of remastered versions of the first two Trails of Cold Steel on PS4 in 2018, with The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel I: Kai – Thors Military Academy 1204- releasing in March in Japan. This means that PS4 owners will get to play the entire series on their platform.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV – The End of Saga launches in Japan on 2018 for PS4.
