Troy Baker (voice of Ocelot) revealed in a new interview that there is a reason why Kiefer Sutherland plays Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Fragged Nation had a chance to interview Troy Baker on YouTube earlier today. He talked briefly about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and gave his endorsement for Kiefer Sutherland playing the role of Big Boss.

Troy Baker said Kiefer Sutherland came in and “knocked it out of the park“. He also said Sutherland honored the character that David Hayter created in the first place. The most revealing part is that he said Sutherland is “doing something different and it’s going to make sense“. He concluded that gamers should play the game first before making any judgments on Sutherland playing Big Boss.

With Troy Baker saying that it “makes sense” for Kiefer Sutherland to play Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain sounds very interesting. There might be a huge character shift, unless Baker is teasing something else entirely.

He also revealed that fans will see a different side of Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He also said there are more characters other than Ocelot that could show an evil side. This might have also been a clue as to why Sutherland is now Big Boss. Big Boss starts to become more of a villain and is no longer a hero.

Baker couldn’t talk too much more about the characters, but it is interesting how he talked about Sutherland playing Big Boss. The actual game may give us a reason why the character needed a voice change.
