Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Is A Broken Mess Both Online And Offline

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 was released earlier this week, however the game was launched with a lot of bugs and Activision is trying its best to fix things.

I received the game factory sealed so the disc was clean and untouched. The first thing I noticed was that the game was lagging for no reason whatsoever. I ejected the disc, but I didn’t see any scratches. It was fresh out of the packaging so I thought it was weird the disc wasn’t going.

However, playing this game online is still problematic at least on the PS4 version I got. If you choose to play online, the game never loads any levels (at least from my end). Even logging into your PSN account makes the game hard to launch sometimes. The game either lags or fails to load any levels.

I decided to log out of the PSN and play Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 offline. The game works far better offline, although I still encountered several glitches. The game still lags for no reason and the framerate seems to be very poor too. Not to mention your skater will sometimes become a ghost and get themselves stuck in the scenery.

As of time of writing, I’m still having troubles playing the game with my PSN logged in. Thankfully, Activision is aware of the issues and is working on fixing things. Update patch 1.02 has been released, although it will take more than just that fix everything.

Activision left the following statement about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5’s issues:

We are aware of the issues that players have experienced following the launch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 and are working with the developer to address these so that we can continue to improve the gameplay experience for all of the Tony Hawk fans who have known and loved this franchise for more than 16 years“.
