Kalypso Media has recently announced the release of Tropico 5’s first major expansion ‘Waterborne’ for Xbox 360 and Mac.
According to Kalypso Media El Presidente is fed up of dry land and has set his sights on the seas surrounding the island of Tropico. As well as bringing new water based game mechanics and features, new buildings are included in the downloadable content. Players can now construct “off-shore alternatives” to a number of the games buildings; with defense, food, energy, entertainment and housing sections all having new buildings for players to use.
Unsurprisingly, with the balancing system Tropico 5 uses, these all come with both advantages and disadvantages over the regular land based buildings. Examples of new structures include oyster farms, floating apartments and tidal power plants; which all allow players to expand off shore when space gets limited on the island itself. Here’s the full list of the features of the ‘Waterborne’ expansion:
- New campaign and story spanning 6 challenging missions
- 9 new offshore buildings and marine vehicles
- 4 new island maps (also available for sandbox games)
- 4 new music tracks
- 2 new avatar costumes
- 6 new avatar accessories
- New sandbox tasks and events to go with the waterborne setting
The ‘Waterborne’ DLC can now be purchased on Steam or the Mac App Store, for £14.99/€19.99/$19.99. It is also available from today via download on Xbox 360 from the Xbox Games Store for £15.99/€19.99/$19.99.
