A few days ago, Forza Motorsport 6 added “Tokens”. This was a form of microtransaction. Turn 10 has now responded to this new addition to the game.

A fan on Twitter was upset knowing that Forza Motorsport 6 is getting microtransactions. This is because the game didn’t launch with them.

Creative Director at Turn 10, Dan Greenawalt responded to the fan by saying: “game was designed, tuned and tested 100% without them, and you can turn them off.”

Microtransactions has been a touchy subject among gamers lately. Many people feel AAA games should not have them because a full priced game is already $60. It’s expensive to ask more money out of gamers’ pockets.

There is also a topic of DLC too. In Forza Motorsport 6, there are several cars that are locked behind DLC that you have to pay real money for. There is no way you can earn some cars by unlocking then through the game.

EA is one company that has not added microtransactions recently. Both Star Wars Battlefront and Need for Speed don’t have them. However, gamers are upset about both games for different reasons. Need for Speed for being always online and Battlefront for its lack of content and expensive $50 Season Pass…

Anyway, do you feel that microtransactions are okay or a burden to today’s video game industry?
