Ubisoft has now confirmed that they want to focus more on the core experience with the gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
An Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed this with Eurogamer. The spokesperson told the site that Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will not have any kind of companion app. The person noted Ubisoft did this to focus more on the “core experience” of the game
It sounds like Ubisoft doesn’t want Assassin’s Creed Syndicate to be riddled with too many unnecessary side gimmicks. Assassin’s Creed Unity used the companion app, but not everyone was a fan of it.
It was already mentioned that Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will not include any multiplayer gameplay either. Assassin’s Creed Unity had an online co-op mode while other games in the series had competitive modes. Again, this is a sign that Ubisoft wants to concentrate on the core gameplay. It felt like they went too far with the gimmicks in recent games.
Ubisoft has to prove itself with Assassin’s Creed Syndicate this year. A lot of people were upset with last year’s Assassin’s Creed Unity. The game launched with glitches and bugs. Not to mention it also had microstransactions too.
Ubisoft is doing the right thing focusing on only the core experience in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
