As you may have seen already, Naughty Dogs shared an image of Nathan Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End the other day. The developer has now talked more about how they will make the character models so lifelike.
Junkie Monkeys attended a Naughty Dog presentation that was held at Gallery Nucleus in California recently. The studio talked in more detail on the improvements they have made on Nathan Drake’s character model in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Naughty Dog talked about how they are now using shaders to make Nathan Drake look more realistic in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The shaders include “pores, scars, facial hair, wetness in the skin/clothes” and all of them look detailed. The PS3 version of Drake had 180 facial poses, but the new Drake will now have over 800 facial poses.
It sounds like Naughty Dog also studied the muscles of a human face to make Drake as real as can be in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. They even went into detail to make Drake’s skin react to each facial expression he will make. The same tools will also be used for his hands and arms too.
Naughty Dog promised more realistic models of Drake will be shared in the future.
Does this piece of news make you more excited for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End?
