Until Dawn will be hitting PS4 on August 25th according to the new launch date trailer, which can be seen below. The game is a survival horror title with a heavy focus on player choice within the narrative. It features eight main characters who spend the night in a log cabin on the anniversary of their friend’s death. Of course, things aren’t as they seem and the group begins being hunted by an insane serial killer. Players will make choices that branch off into varying storylines, with the end result being that players decide who lives and who dies.
The system is referred to as the “Butterfly Effect”, something that is heavily referenced in the trailer above. The idea is that choices compound on top of each other, creating vastly different stories depending on the player’s actions and choices. Players who make the right choices might end up with all eight characters left alive, while those choosing poorly could cause the entire group to be wiped out. This allows for a vast amount of replayability, as players try to see where they went wrong, and what other outcomes were possible.
Until Dawn features an all-star cast of characters, including Heroes’ Hayden Panettiere and the newly revealed Peter Stormare of Prison Break and The Big Lebowski. Get ready to survive the night when Until Dawn hits PlayStation 4 on August 25th.
