One feature that Battlefield 3 PC players have been asking for since launch is VOIP chat functionality. Last we had heard of it, DICE said they were looking into it as a possibility for the future of the game. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
DICE’s Community Manager Daniel Matros explained to fans via Twitter. “It won’t be implemented as is right now,” he told fans. As it stands, playing Battlefield 3 on PC only allows you to talk with players that are on the same squad, and on your friends list.
DICE’s work on upcoming expansion packs may be playing a role in this decision to pass on VOIP, as the company said there is no major reason why they couldn’t implement it in previous statements to fans.
