The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, formerly known as TWD: Season 3, hit with an epic two episode premier, but has been quiet ever since. That silence was broken today with Telltale giving us a release date window for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Episode 3, titled “Above the Law”. Along with this came a brand new trailer for the full retail release, to get people ready for the carnage to come.
The retail release will hit stores on February 28th, containing a full season pass and allowing players to download the episodes that aren’t currently available. The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Episode 3 will hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC in late March, which should be either the 21st or 28th if Telltale isn’t doing anything way outside their normal release pattern.
Telltale describes the series by saying “When family is all you have left… how far will you go to protect it? Years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to protect his family, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine, and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last.”
A New Frontier surprised gamers with its focus on a brand new character, moving series mainstay Clementine into a more supportive role. You do still play as Clem though, in certain flashback sequences. The end of Episode 2 saw Javier and Clem separated, so we could see more character switching in Episode 3, or Telltale could surprise us again.
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier has so far been a worthy followup to the amazing first and second seasons of Telltale’s series. Heading into the middle of the season, everyone will be wondering if the developer can keep momentum going and deliver a solid finale. Look for our review when Episode 3 “Above the Law” hits in late March.
