In less than a month, the first episode of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season will premiere. Before the episode’s launch, however, you can watch the first several minutes of the game now.
Telltale recently uploaded a video to YouTube showcasing the first fifteen minutes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season‘s gameplay. In the video, you’ll be able to see the game’s cool new Graphic Black art style in action, which makes it look even more like a comic book than previous seasons, as well as the upcoming season’s various new mechanics. The camera now constantly follows Clementine around in hubs, rather than staying in one position depending on the location, and Walker encounters are now unscripted, leaving it to the player to determine how to deal with them. Another interesting detail is the notification that reads, “Your choices determine what [AJ, the child Clem is looking after] will become.” This would seem to imply that AJ’s character will be shaped by the player’s actions and may end up acting completely differently in the later episodes depending on what choices you’ve made, possibly similar to how differently the Joker could have turned out based on the choices you made in Batman: The Enemy Within. Obviously, we’ll have to wait for the full game to come out before seeing exactly how this will play out.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season will premiere its first episode on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on August 14 and will come to the Switch later this year.
