This announcement came from an article on Xbox Wire posted by Dallas where he gave a little summary of what the game is all about. What Remains of Edith Finch is a “collection of playable short stories about a cursed family in Washington State.” As Edith, the player attempts to figure out why Edith is the only remaining family member alive after she goes back to her childhood home. Exploring the house uncovers the stories of each family member and their deaths.
As Dallas said, the game touches on a lot of heavy subjects like death and what we leave behind. Much like real life, everybody dies in What Remains of Edith Finch, and as sad as that my sound, the focus is still on celebrating the lives in this family and seeing the world from new perspectives. Dallas noted that it’s hard to talk about without giving too much away, but you’ll be exploring the unknown with no idea of what you’ll find.
What Remains of Edith Finch originally launched on April 25, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and PC to critical acclaim, with reviewers praising the game’s tone and storytelling. It finally comes to Xbox One next week on July 19.
