Nintendo has now released Wii U system update version 5.5.1. Don’t get too excited though as the new update does not come with any huge features.
The Japanese Nintendo website posted a little more about the Wii U update. It said: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”
The new update is only 47MB in size. It shouldn’t take too long for you to download and install it onto your console. This update was released on January 12th (Japan time). There was no further information posted about the update at this time.
The last update to come to the console was four months ago. That too was an uneventful update as that was just another “stability update”. It has been a long time since any legit new features have been implemented to the Wii U via a system update.
It will be interesting to see how much longer Nintendo will support the console. The Wii U might soon be phased out with rumors of the NX console coming as soon as late 2016. We might know more about Nintendo’s new console at E3 2016.
