October is about to get a lot bloodier with the release of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. With just over two months away until its launch, Bethesda has released a new trailer showcasing the power of dual wielding weapons along with commentary from the developers.

MachineGames Executive Producer Jerk Gustafsson and Creative Director Jens Matthies were on Bethesda’s live stage at E3 to discuss why Nazis are the ultimate enemy and how players can brutally defeat them. As monsters and the symbol of evil, as Gustafsson put it, Nazis make the perfect enemies. The Nazis in Wolfenstein are “larger than life” and beefed up to create “more dangerous and more intimidating” threats. To take them out, you’ll need a powerful arsenal at your disposal, one of which is a rideable, flamethrowing Panzerhund.

Aside from the Panzerhund, the dual-wielding system is also enhanced this time around. The developers love the heavy weapons and over-the-top combat of Wolfenstein, and its dual-wielding mechanic feeds right into that belief. Player control and freedom is tantamount in combat, so people can dual-wield any combination of weapons. If you’re playing stealthily, your primary weapon can be silenced while you have a powerful backup in case things go south. Or feel free to go in guns-blazing and mow down everything in your path.

Replacing the knife from The New Order, a hatchet takes its place as the melee weapon in The New Colossus. There is a story based reason for this as well, but it also just serves as a better weapon because it’s a bit more powerful and can take out bigger enemies. Because a hatchet is a fairly common item that you’d realistically see on submarines or in stores (like an emergency fire hatchet), you’ll be able to find them all over the world in Wolfenstein II.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus launches on October 27, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
