Xbox Live Issues Pop Up for Second Day in a Row, Phil Spencer Apologizes

UPDATE: The issues should be resolved at this time, but keep an eye out for more as Xbox Live has been unreliable lately.

Yesterday Xbox One had major issues with Xbox Live, resulting in downloaded apps and games not being useable without jumping through a lot of hoops. Those problems seemed to be worked out overnight, with there being no issues reported with Xbox Live status as of this morning. However, around noon Eastern Time the service went back into a limited status.

The problem now seems to be with buying new downloadable items, with the report stating “Xbox members, are you having trouble purchasing new content? We’re aware of the issue and our team is working to find a fix, ASAP. Thanks for being patient in the meantime! We’ll provide an update as soon as we have more information.”

This is a much smaller problem than what was going on yesterday, thankfully. However, it is really sad to see the service struggle for two days in a row, and there’s no guarantee that more features won’t be impacted before this is all worked out.

On Microsoft’s side they haven’t said much aside from that they were working on the problems. No initial cause was given, so there’s no way to tell what went wrong here. Xbox head Phil Spencer did speak up today on Twitter, pointing Xbox One owners to the official Xbox support account, where they’ll get up-to-date information on this and future outages.

He also issued an apology, saying “Very sorry for the current issues.” Hopefully the current issues can be worked out faster than they were yesterday and gamers can get back to having fun with their console.
