Microsoft has been pushing new games to their Xbox One Backwards Compatibility service at a very rapid pace over the last few weeks. Recently we saw four big games hit the program with Trials HD, Sam & Max Byond Time & Space, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, and LEGO Batman. Today they’ve expanded even further, though this time with a smaller game, but a definite classic.

Galaga, the arcade masterpiece is now available to play on Xbox One via backwards compatibility. The game was released on Xbox 360 as part of Xbox Live Arcade, offering the original game in all its glory. Now, if you owned that game for Xbox 360 or buy it today, it will be available to play on your Xbox One.

Although the full Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list hasn’t been updated with this new inclusion, Galaga would be the 135th game to be added to the service. The program only officially launched in November, having had an early access period for preview members of a few months. It’s growth has been steady until now, with Microsoft issuing new games monthly. However, they recently shifted to releasing games as they become available, leading to an increase in the number of games seen.

Whether or not this momentum will continue will have to wait to be seen. Microsoft is definitely working on adding new games to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility, as we’ve seen some test games leak out, such as Red Dead Redemption. However, there is a lot of work that goes into the service, including licensing the game and getting it running to an acceptable state.
