Last September saw a very momentous occasion for not only the Xbox One, but video games in general, as China saw the release of the first console in their country in 14 years. While the Xbox One has not sold well in other Asian territories like Japan, it was thought that the long drought may drum up some good sales in China. However, eight months later you can still buy a Day One Edition of the Xbox One and now the various models available have received a price drop
As reported by Hardcore Gamer, the basic Xbox One without Kinect is dropping from RMB 3,699 to RMB 2,999, which is approximately a drop of $110 to roughly $483. The Kinect model has seen a similar drop from RMB 4,299 to RMB 3,799, or by about $81 to roughly $612. This is not a very good sign for the console in China, but the worst indication of all is that you can still buy the Day One Edition in China, which is something that is designated to be gone right away at launch.
This is not a good sign for the Xbox One so far in China, but it’s is not the only console available there anymore. The PlayStation 4 also debuted, so a country that is not used to console gaming now has two fighting for a very small market.
