After a six day delay, Microsoft’s Xbox One finally launched in China yesterday. However, unlike console launches in other countries, this one was incredibly special for China, as it was the first console to launch in the country in over 14 years. To celebrate this special occasion, gamers in China lined up waiting for the release of the Xbox One.

For those that may not know, China had previously banned home consoles from being sold officially in the country, with the PlayStation 2 being the last to release in the country long ago. Of course those in China have gotten them from other countries, but it’s great to actually be able to buy it in the country itself.

According to a report from Kotaku, the launch events in major cities like Shanghai and Beijing had people lined up waiting to get their hands on the console. The sales were scarce in Japan for the Xbox One, but with China not having a console release since the PlayStation 2, gamers were likely ready to get their hands on a new console. No sales numbers have been released for the first day thus far, so we’ll have to wait until they are released to see how it sold as a whole.
