The Xbox One X may not be a whole new console generation, but it seems like gamers are buying it like it is. The updated console began preorder sales a few days ago, quickly selling out in many countries and across various retailer. According to Microsoft the sales weren’t just impressive, they were record breaking. In terms of preorders, the Xbox One X is officially the fastest selling Xbox console in the platform’s history.

“Microsoft has done it again! The innovation and power behind the new Xbox One X console is driving excitement and demand among our customers worldwide,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of Merchandising for GameStop. “The speed at which we sold through our initial pre-order supply surpassed expectations, and what we experienced with pre-orders for the original Xbox One console…We were absolutely astonished with the run on Microsoft`s new flagship console of the Xbox One family. The Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition was the fastest sold-out Xbox console ever.”

According to the announcement, more Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition consoles have been sold in these first five days of preorders than any Xbox console before. Of course, this is great news for Microsoft and their fans, but is bad news for anyone who still wants to put their money down on an Xbox One X.

Thankfully Microsoft has promised news on the second round of console shipments. Expect to hear about this within the next month.

Xbox One X arrive on November 7th.
