Revealed shortly after the Nintendo Switch reveal, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition is a Zelda fans dream. Featuring tons of physical collectibles, including a Master Sword replica, the Master Edition was pretty obviously going to be highly desired. Well, the inevitable is happening as the “very limited” set’s pre-orders are already selling out across the internet.
Luckily these aren’t the only pre-orders that will be available, but we’ve already seen Amazon and Gamestop throw The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition up, only to have it sell out shortly after. More stock could be added, but the odds are slim, so other retailers might be a better choice if you’re still seeking one.
Unfortunately, Nintendo even said that fans might have trouble finding the Master Edition, with NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime breaking down the set on Treehouse Live. In that segment he mentioned that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition will be “very limited”, implying that stock will be low, despite the high demand.
We’ve seen this from Nintendo before, even within the Zelda series. Majora’s Mask 3D had a collector’s edition that was ridiculously hard to buy, fetching high prices from resellers. And it’s not just games that get this treatment with the Majora’s Mask 3DS also tough to buy, and amiibo famously having stock problems long after their initial launch.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition is already a top seller on Amazon, even though it sold out so quickly. We don’t know how many units Amazon had, but whatever it was, it was not nearly enough. Hopefully this was just the initial rush though and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition can be bought by more gamers before its March 3rd release date.
