While all of the attention has been on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice the last few days after the release of the first teaser trailer for the movie, Suicide Squad is still staying in the news as well. A lot of the recent news about the movie has been about the Suicide Squad Joker we’ll see and his upcoming portrayal by the always excellent Jared Leto. While we had some teases of his look over the last few weeks, including him with green hair, we may have our first true look at him in costume, albeit in very low resolution.
First leaking online through someone’s Instagram account, the image of Leto’s Suicide Squad Joker is actually a picture within a picture. The image provided has someone on the set looking at an image from the set on a camera, where we can see a very low resolution shot of Leto in full Joker makeup and costume.
Interestingly enough, it appears Leto is wearing a white suit of some sort here, which would fall in line with all The Dark Knight Returns homages with Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In Suicide Squad however, it could very well be some sort of prison garb instead, considering they seem to be going very much off of the Assault on Arkham animated movie.
Typically this type of image would be instantly dismissed as merely a photoshipped picture, not only has Latino Review’s Umberto Gonzalez mentioned it, who has been pretty on target with most of his Suicide Squad leaks to date, but another major Batman site, Batman-News, has confirmed it is real. According to that Twitter, the photo is “100% real” according to the photo agency that took it and they are working to get a better quality photo if the price isn’t too high. Even if they do not acquire said photo, with the way they are teasing this movie already, it can’t be long before they official give us an image of Leto’s Joker.
Coming as the followup movie in the new DC Cinematic Universe, Suicide Squad will star a team of DC’s popular villains as they work for the US government in some capacity. Starring not only Leto, but also Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, and Joel Kinnaman, Suicide Squad has a lot of star power behind it and it will be interesting to see how that all comes together when it releases in August 2016.
