UPDATE (12/16)

After a thrilling Grand Finals between Gachikun and Itabashi Zangief, Capcom officially announced Kage.

As expected, he has a very similar feel as Evil Ryu, even featuring his signature axe kicks. Unlike Evil Ryu, however, Kage is the manifestation of Ryu rejecting the Satsui no Hado, rather than succumbing to it.

He will cost $5.99 / €5.99 / £4.99 or 100,000 Fight Money; it’s also worth noting that there is no Season Pass so you can only get him individually and not with the rest of the Season 4 characters.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Top 4 of Capcom Cup 2018 is still underway, but due to a mistake on Capcom’s part not only do know that Street Fighter 5 will have even more characters coming out throughout 2019, but the identity of the first one: Kage.

That’s the “good” news. The bad? Well, look at him — he’s basically Evil Ryu with horns. Seriously: red and black eyes, fangs, and even horns…you wouldn’t be faulted for confusing him with (Evil) Ryu if you didn’t know any better.

It’s unclear how this mistake occurred, but it likely has to do with the update that Capcom implemented mid-Capcom Cup. However, instead of simply prepping the game for Kage’s inclusion and then having the announcement once the tournament ends, the opposite occurred and now we have this guy.

With that in mind, we’ll still have to wait until Capcom reveals his trailer before we know how he plays. There are rumors suggesting that he’s capable of flight though.
