This November, Assassin’s Creed will return with the fourth game titled, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.  With the next game in the franchise, Ezio Auditore, Altair, and Desmond will all return to tie together the previous games.  The first screenshot was revealed for the game today, and you can expect much more with E3 just around the corner.  It has now been confirmed that Constantinople would be the setting for Assassin’s Creed Revelations, for at least one of the playable characters.

Since we’ll be playing as all three characters from the franchise, we’ll probably see multiple settings with Altair in a different time period.  If Altair’s portion of the game will occur in the same city at an earlier date, or will it be some place entirely different has not been announced.  Of course, since Desmond resides in the present, we’ll likely continue his adventure by picking up as the game ended in a traditional Assassin’s Creed WTH moment.

It’s nice to see Revelations is seeking to tie up some of the loose ends that have been waving in the wind from as far back as the original Assassin’s Creed.  With a plot that is now spanning multiple generations, Revelations will have you playing as Ezio, Altair, and of course Desmond to bring the story full circle.  Only to kick you in the ass at the end and get you good and primed for Assassin’s Creed 3.

Update: Ubisoft issued an official press release on Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and it’s uncertain if you can actually play as Altair in the game. But here’s to hoping.

In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.
