Waffle House is usually known online for late-night chaos, but a new video from one of its Georgia locations has started a far more serious conversation. A TikTok user who posts as @out_it_out shared a video claiming she and her husband sat at a Waffle House booth without being greeted while diners who arrived after them were served.
The clip has drawn hundreds of thousands of views since it was posted. In it, the woman said the couple stopped at the Waffle House for breakfast before work, and that her feelings were “hurt a little bit” by what followed. She said there was only one other person in the restaurant who looked like them, but she decided to stay because the food is good.
According to the creator, a server saw the couple walk in and sit down, yet nobody came over for about five minutes. She said a woman seated behind her husband arrived after them and was already being served, so she started recording. The video pans to the server stopping at that table again, which the creator said was the third visit while her own booth had no silverware.
The creator says she believes it was racism, but not every viewer agrees
The woman said she then watched another couple walk in to see whether they would be served first, and she claimed they were. She told viewers she believed what she saw was racism, though she also asked them to weigh in. Eventually, she said, she told her husband they should leave, adding that she had “just wanted a waffle.”
Many commenters said they would have walked out sooner, as they worried about what might happen to food from a server who did not want to serve them. One viewer said they always leave a place in that situation because they are “so terrified” someone will tamper with their order. Others pushed the creator to file a complaint with Waffle House’s corporate office and to share the location.
Other viewers thought the couple should have spoken up before leaving. One commenter suggested simply asking the server who was covering their booth. Another argued that walking out without a word gave the staff exactly what they wanted. A few people also joked that the husband seemed oblivious throughout the clip. However, several others were still asking for the restaurant’s exact location, which the video itself does not show.
A smaller group offered a different explanation entirely. Several commenters pointed out that Waffle House servers often work assigned sections, so the server in the video may simply not have been responsible for the couple’s booth. One person who said they work in restaurants wrote that they do not serve tables outside their section either unless a guest asks them directly, as each server tracks their own tables.
The debate mirrors earlier viral moments from the same state. A similar argument played out after a theater employee singled out a Georgia couple over a phone complaint, with viewers split on whether race was behind it. In both cases, the couples said they were treated differently. However, some commenters argued that an ordinary misunderstanding could explain what happened.
The creator did not say whether she contacted Waffle House after leaving, and the company could look into the location she tagged if the video keeps gaining traction.
Attack of the Fanboy was unable to independently verify Waffle House’s side of the story, as this account originates solely from out_it_out’s TikTok video.
