A flight attendant named Brittney Bluitt thought she was having a normal workday when a passenger gave her a closed barf bag during a flight last month. She laughed at first, thinking it was a joke, but what she found inside later completely shocked her.
When Bluitt opened the bag after finishing her work, she discovered $208 in cash inside. Every single passenger on the flight had put money together to give her a tip. She was so surprised and emotional that she could barely believe what had happened.
“When we do receive tips, it’s typically $5 or $20,” Bluitt told People. She had never seen all the passengers on a plane work together to give such a generous gift before. She said the amount might not seem huge to some people, but it meant a lot to her and came as a big blessing.
This random act of kindness came at the perfect time
The stewardess was serving drinks when a male passenger handed her the closed bag and told her it was for her. She thought he was joking around and didn’t think much of it at first. After she finished cleaning the cabin, his words kept playing in her mind, so she decided to open the bag.
Bluitt said she honestly believed he was giving her something to throw away. When she saw the rolled-up $20 bills inside, reality finally hit her. She wanted to cry and scream with joy but managed to stay calm until the flight was over.
She shared the touching moment on TikTok, and the video got almost 9,000 views. In the clip, an emotional Bluitt holds up the white bag filled with cash. She wrote “Blessed! That’s all” as the caption. Flight attendants work hard to keep passengers comfortable, and they deal with common passenger behaviors that frustrate crew on a daily basis.
Bluitt explained that the unexpected money came when she was really stressed about her finances. She was worried about buying Christmas gifts for her parents and wasn’t feeling the usual holiday spirit. The generous tip reminded her that help comes when you need it most. While some travelers spend thousands on first-class tickets, Bluitt’s story shows that simple acts of kindness matter more than expensive perks.
She now hopes her story will encourage others and bring hope, especially during the holidays. Bluitt said she truly believes you get back what you give to others. She wants people to remember that kindness still exists in the world.
