Kirsten Storms Will Undergo Brain Surgery In Two Weeks, But The Cruel Rumor Someone Spread About Her Hospital Visit Is Even More Shocking

Brain surgery wasn't even her worst problem that week.

General Hospital star Kirsten Storms recently shared some tough news with her fans. The 41-year-old actress said she will have brain surgery in the next two weeks to treat an aneurysm that doctors found during a regular check-up.

The aneurysm was discovered while Storms was getting a follow-up scan for a cyst that was removed from her brain back in 2021. Her brain doctor found the aneurysm on the right side of her brain during this check-up. Back in January, she already had a procedure where doctors put a camera through her leg all the way up to her brain to look at the problem more closely. Storms talked about what happened in an Instagram post.

As per People, she said that finding out about it in January “majorly freaked me out.” What made things even harder was finding out that someone spread a horrible lie about why she was in the hospital. “A few days after I was discharged from the hospital, someone created a blog post that said I was in the hospital that weekend because I tried to ‘unalive’ myself,” Storms wrote. She said she could not understand why anyone would make up something so awful when they had no idea why she was really there.

The Stress Of LA Life May Have Made Her Health Problems Worse

The actress also said that her health problems were a big reason why she decided to move from Los Angeles to Nashville with her 11-year-old daughter Harper. She took time off from her long-running role as Maxie on the show this summer so she could make the move.

Storms explained that stress can cause aneurysms, and a scan in January showed a new small cyst on her brain stem. This made it clear that she needed to make big changes in her life right away. “For my own personal reasons, no longer living in Los Angeles was very important to me. The biggest reason for the move was Harper, but a lot of it was for my physical and mental health. And my overall happiness,” she said.

The surgery Storms will have is called coiling. It blocks blood flow to the aneurysm so it does not burst. While she waits for her surgery date, she is spending time with her best friend and former co-star Emme Rylan, who played her onscreen best friend on General Hospital.
