‘Burn It’: Driver Brings Chevy To Shop For Repairs, But What The Mechanic Finds Inside Makes Her Hesitate To Even Sit Down

She had to cover her face just to get inside. That should tell you everything.

A TikTok video showing the inside of a customer’s Chevy has left people shocked. The clip, posted by car technician Skylar, shows an interior so dirty that she had to cover her face before even trying to work on the car. The video has been watched more than 16.7 million times.

The video shows closeup shots of the dashboard, doors, floor mats, and other parts covered in spilled drinks, pet hair, old food, and dirt everywhere. “Let’s normalize not letting our cars crystallize,” Skylar wrote in the caption. The comments filled up fast with reactions from people who felt better about their own messy cars.

People had strong reactions to what they saw. “Burn it!” one person wrote in the comments, while others said they would help clean it. “I’ll be the one detailing it!” another person said. Many people felt relieved after watching. “I guess my car isn’t that dirty,” one viewer wrote.

The Reality For Mechanics Is Pretty Rough

For repair workers who see customer cars every day, really dirty interiors can be more than just gross. It can actually be dangerous for their health. In the comments, other technicians and car cleaners shared their own bad experiences. They talked about cars with bags of diapers, rotten food, mold, and even worse things. “You can refuse unsafe work… like biohazards,” one person said. Another mechanic said they lost their job once after saying no to working on a car that had human waste in the back seat.

Even with these problems, many repair shops don’t have clear rules about turning away cars with dangerous messes inside. Work safety rules cover things like chemicals and loud noises, but they don’t really talk about gross stuff in customer cars. This means workers have to decide for themselves what they will and won’t deal with, just like mechanics who have to handle bad DIY car repairs.

Some car surfaces have more bacteria than toilet seats. The researchers checked trunks, driver’s seats, dashboards, and cup holders. Every single car they tested had some poop bacteria in it. Other studies found different types of germs on steering wheels, center consoles, and gear shifters.

Skylar said more about the Chevy in her video. “That Chevy was something else lol. It was a car that came in for an oil change… There was mold on the vents, it smelled awful. The steering wheel was sticky. It was actually sticky everywhere lol. Just super gross.” She said, “We’ve had some nasty cars come in the shop, but this was definitely top of the list.”
