Trump Threatens To Send ‘More Than The National Guard’ Into Us Cities, And What That Means Is Terrifying

Trump's Japan speech took a dark turn.

President Donald Trump talked to American soldiers at a military base in Japan on Tuesday. What he said about using troops inside America has made a lot of people very worried.

According to the New York Times, Trump was speaking to thousands of soldiers on an aircraft carrier at the Yokosuka Naval Base. The trip was supposed to be about working with Asian countries, but Trump mostly talked about problems at home and using soldiers in American cities.

Trump told the soldiers he’s willing to use more military force than just the National Guard in cities across America. “We have cities that are troubled, we can’t have cities that are troubled,” Trump said. “And we’re sending in our National Guard, and if we need more than the National Guard, we’ll send more than the National Guard, because we’re going to have safe cities.”

This Is A Big Deal That Should Make Everyone Nervous

Trump has already been putting National Guard soldiers in cities around the country, mostly in places run by Democrats. Many local officials don’t want these soldiers there and some have gone to court to fight it. The soldiers have been helping catch people who crossed the border illegally, protecting government buildings, and helping police fight crime.

But what Trump just said means he wants to go even bigger. He made it very clear that he thinks using military power in American cities is the right thing to do. “We’re not going to have people killed in our cities,” he said. “And whether people like that or not, that’s what we’re doing.”

Trump also defended recent attacks on boats in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The United States has attacked at least 10 boats and killed 43 people. The government says everyone who died was a drug dealer, but they haven’t shown any proof. Other countries say regular people died in these attacks, including a fisherman that Colombia’s president says was killed for no reason.

Trump called these attacks a war and said he was proud of them. “For many years, the drug cartels have waged war in America, and at long last, we’re finally waging war on the cartels,” Trump said. People who study the law say using the military to kill regular people who aren’t fighting in a war is against the law.

Trump gave this speech while visiting three countries in Asia. He met with Japan’s new leader and said that Toyota would spend $10 billion to build car factories in the United States. But he spent most of his time talking about American politics instead of talking about America’s friendship with Japan. The soldiers he’s been sending to cities have caused big arguments between business owners and political leaders in those places.
