I really can’t stand him’: Tarantino reveals two more actors he hates after trashing Paul Dano, admits he had to watch one movie three times to tolerate him

Dude didn't mince his words.

Famous director Quentin Tarantino recently shared two more actors he “really can’t stand” after he publicly criticized Paul Dano. The two-time Oscar winner made these comments on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast while talking about his favorite movies from the 21st century.

Tarantino first attacked Paul Dano, calling him the “weakest f***ing actor” in Hollywood. According to LAD Bible, he loves the 2007 film There Will Be Blood and put it in his top ten list, but he thinks Dano ruins the movie. Tarantino said the film “would stand a good chance at being number one or two if it didn’t have a big, giant flaw in it… and the flaw is Paul Dano.”

Tarantino believes the movie should be equally strong between both lead actors, but Dano doesn’t match his co-star’s performance. He called Dano “weak sauce, man” and “the weak sister.” He even suggested Austin Butler “would have been wonderful in that role” and finished by saying Dano “is just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy.”

Tarantino’s hatred for Owen Wilson took three viewings to overcome

But Dano isn’t the only actor Tarantino criticized. He also went after Owen Wilson, who stars in another movie on his favorites list, 2011’s Midnight in Paris. Tarantino admitted, “Oddly enough, I really can’t stand Owen Wilson. I mean, I can’t stand him.”

Tarantino explained he loved the film during his first viewing but hated Wilson’s performance. The second time he watched it, he had to tell himself, “Okay, don’t be such a p***ck.” After that, Wilson wasn’t “so bad.” By the third viewing, Tarantino finally “found myself watching him.” It took three full watches for him to get past his dislike of Wilson. Hollywood directors aren’t shy about sharing their opinions, much like James Cameron’s recent criticism of AI performers.

Tarantino confirmed he doesn’t care for both actors, saying, “I don’t care for [Dano]. I don’t care for Owen Wilson.” He then added a third name to his list: Matthew Lillard. The Scary Movie actor got the briefest mention of all three.

Dillon Freasier, who played the child version of H.W. Plainview in There Will Be Blood, defended Dano. Freasier told said the movie is “a work of art” because “everyone was perfectly cast.” While some actors face public criticism, others struggle with an Oscar winner’s current homelessness situation.

Despite his harsh criticism, Tarantino also showed his softer side. He included Toy Story 3 in his top ten and called it an “almost perfect movie.” He said the ending destroyed him emotionally and that “That last five minutes ripped my f***ing heart out.” He still “chokes up” just talking about how the movie ends.
