Jake Paul tried to rip Bad Bunny for his political views, but AOC just stepped in and delivered an embarrassing takedown

Attacked him where it hurts.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez absolutely slammed boxer Jake Paul following his recent controversial remarks aimed at music star Bad Bunny, as reported by Reality Tea. The whole debate started when Paul took to X and publicly questioned Bad Bunny’s identity and political views, specifically labeling the artist a “fake American citizen.”

Paul’s comments quickly escalated into a broader online conversation because they centered on the musician’s opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. Bad Bunny has been very open about his political stance on the issue in recent weeks. Paul was so upset about the artist’s views that he even announced he would boycott the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

AOC jumped straight into the conversation, delivering a truly embarrassing takedown that turned Paul’s own actions against him. She didn’t just disagree with the “fake citizen” label; she went right for his personal background and financial decisions.

It looks like Paul might want to rethink his online strategy before taking on high-profile political figures again

AOC directly responded to Paul’s framing, calling him out for the premise of his criticism. She wrote, “A ‘fake American citizen?’ Didn’t you MOVE to Puerto Rico to avoid paying your taxes while kids across America go hungry?”

But AOC wasn’t done contrasting the two figures. She immediately followed up by emphasizing Bad Bunny’s positive charitable contributions, suggesting Paul’s anger might stem from being overshadowed. She wrote that Bad Bunny, whose legal name is Benito, “actually funds low income kids’ access to arts and sports programs, while you defund them.” She then summed up her feelings perfectly, concluding with: “Of course you’re mad. He makes you look small.”

As the heat intensified online, Paul quickly realized he needed to clarify his position, especially since he himself currently lives in Puerto Rico. He issued a statement insisting his remarks were not directed at Bad Bunny’s Puerto Rican identity, but were tied solely to the artist’s stance on ICE. Paul attempted to walk back the original phrasing, writing, “To clarify: I wasn’t calling anyone a ‘fake citizen’ because they’re from Puerto Rico.”

Paul concluded by explaining that he believes benefiting from the U.S. while simultaneously criticizing the country and its agencies amounts to being a “fake citizen.” He wrapped up his post by saying, “I agree love is more powerful than hate. Love America.” Despite his attempt to clarify the situation, the initial backlash and AOC’s sharp response definitely dominated the conversation.
