Minecraft on the Xbox One is on the way, but very few details about the game are known. Though today, good news about the Xbox One version has been revealed. “After months of teaming up with Mojang, we can confirm that Minecraft X360 Edition will save transfer to Xbox One Edition… more news soon!,” reads a tweet from Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

That means that users will be able to carry their progress from the Xbox 360 version of the game to the Xbox One. This is good news indeed for those that put any considerable amount of time into the game. Just how this save functionality will work is anyone’s guess, but we’re betting that Microsoft’s cloud servers will play a role.

Allowing players persistence of their saves across platforms is apparently something that Mojang finds important. PlayStation owners who end up buying both the PS3 and PS4 versions of Minecraft will also have the ability to transfer save data between games.

There’s still no official release date for Minecraft on the Xbox One, but earlier this week 4J Studios revealed that they were aiming for a Q2/Q3 launch window for the game.
