Sledgehammer Games is working exclusively on the next-gen version of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The game which is said to take advantage of next-gen hardware fully, is also going to be powered by a “new” engine.

Maybe not entirely new, according to Sledgehammer, but “enough has been rebuilt from scratch to make it almost unrecognizable,” according to Michael Condrey in an interview with Edge.

Condrey claims that Advanced Warfare will have “new rendering, animation, physics and audio systems.”

Call of Duty gets a lot of criticism on a year-in year-out basis for not pushing the envelope when it comes to graphics. This is the year that is billed as the first next-gen leap for the series. Sledgehammer Games has all hands on deck at the studio working on the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Advanced Warfare. While the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions have been delegated to High Moon Studios.
