Battlefield Hardline looks to revitalize the BF formula by shifting the gameplay away from the military and toward cops and robbers. With this comes a few changes, with the latest being the unveiling of Hotwire, a new game mode that features some amazing car chases. Of course, Battlefield trailers are always action-packed, so we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out with 64 players in-game. More information about the mode can be found by clicking here.

Whether you’re the cops or the criminals, the goal in Battlefield Hardline’s Hotwire mode is to get to the marked cars and drive fast

The description of the mode comes from the Youtube page, saying “Whether you’re the cops or the criminals, the goal in Battlefield Hardline’s Hotwire mode is to get to the marked cars and drive fast. This is high speed chases like you’ve never seen before on the streets of Battlefield.” If the mode works well I could see it becoming a fan-favorite as some of the best times in Battlefield 3 and 4 were when a chase happened during capture-the-flag matches.

Battlefield Hardline would have originally been out next month, but a delay pushed it into early 2015. This was said to be the result of feedback during the game’s beta program. The developers are struggling to differentiate the game from its predecessor while not straying too far from the series’s beloved gameplay mechanics. Hotwire looks to be a good mode that wouldn’t necessarily work in a game that featured jets and tanks all over the place, so this is great to see.

Battlefield Hardline will be released in early 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. If you want to get some Battlefield action in before Hardline releases then keep an eye out for Battlefield 4: Final Stand, the fifth and final expansion pack for BF4. It can be played now as part of the community testing environment.
