2K Sports is nearly set to shut down the NBA 2K14 servers at the end of the month.
2K Sports made the following short announcement on the official forums:
“NBA 2K14 server to be discontinued 3/31/15.
You will no longer be able to play ranked games/online association.”
This means NBA 2K14’s servers will go offline for good on March 31st, 2015. You will still be able to play the game, but the aforementioned modes will be inaccessible for you to play after March 31st.
NBA 2K14 only came out on October 1st, 2013. The game’s servers were only up for 18 months or so. This is sadly the “normal” thing when it comes to annually released sports video games. Other sports games from 2K and EA also only have a 18 month lifespan in terms of their servers being active.
As of right now, NBA 2K15, WWE 2K15, WWE 2K14, Top Spin 4 and even Top Spin 3’s servers will remain active for the time being. It’s interesting how 2K Sports have still kept Top Spin 3 active for all these years. That game came out way back in 2008.
If you still own NBA 2K14, it’s a good idea to play it now before it goes offline for good.
