Some rumors were flying around recently that Bethesda’s highly anticipated RPG title Fallout 4 would have a framerate lock on PC. Bethesda has come forward and clarified that there will be no limits whatsoever on the PC version, outside the user’s machine capability.

Fallout 4 is 1080p & 30fps on Xbox One and PS4. Resolution and FPS are not limited in any way on the PC.

At the same time they specified that Fallout 4 will run at 1080p and 30 FPS (frames-per-second) on the consoles. This is in-line with more recent releases on the PS4 and Xbox One, which developers are finally getting a good understanding of how to program for.

Some higher end titles have had to drop their resolution or framerate slightly, but it looks like Bethesda won’t have to do that with Fallout 4, though we’ll have to wait for the final product to see if it is stable upon release.

Bethesda has a track record of issues at launch, which are usually forgivable due to the quality and sheer immensity of the games they release. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim famously had problems on the PS3, with loading issues plaguing it throughout its lifetime.

Bethesda seems to be in a better place these days though, so Fallout 4 might be an exception to this rule. If it can launch at 1080p and 30 FPS on consoles then we should be in store for a fantastic visual experience on top of the usual gameplay excellence.

Fallout 4 hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 10th, 2015.
