Rocket League, the soccer with cars mash-up that is currently lighting up the Steam and PlayStation sales charts, might come to the Xbox One eventually according to a tweet from the developer. The game is currently only available for PC and PS4, with it being free on the latter for PlayStation Plus members.
When asked if the game was coming to Xbox One, Rocket League’s developer responded “Thanks — and we’re open to coming to more platforms. It’s all about time, demand, and resources (we’re a small team).” That small team has a lot to take care of as it is, with PS4 overheating issues, along with a massive audience of over 2 million players.
A direct sequel to cult hit Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Rocket League pits two teams of 1-4 players against each other in a soccer-style match. The big difference between it and the actual game of soccer, is that all of the players are driving cars, which can rocket their way across the map, flipping and flying around trying to score goals against the other team.
The game features cross-platform multiplayer with PC and PS4 players mixing together into one multiplayer arena, a rarity in today’s gaming world. If it does make its way to the Xbox One it will be interesting to see if this continues, with PC, PS4, and Xbox One players all coming together for one game.
