The PS4 continues to be a popular console all over the world as worldwide shipments now stand at over 25.3 million units.
NeoGAF posted Sony’s recent financial report and lifetime shipments for the console are now over 25.3 million units. The company had a strong Q1 2016 fiscal year result.
During the last quarter from April 1st until June 30th, Sony managed to ship over 3 million PS4 consoles. This is up from the 2.7 million units they shipped during the same period last year.
Because of the strong result from the console during the last quarter, Sony is raising its forecast for shipments. The company expects to now ship 16.5 million PS4 consoles by the end of March 31st, 2016. The previous forecast was only exactly 16 million units.
By the end of March 31st, 2016, Sony could be shipping over 38.8 million units worldwide. This will be a healthy figure if Sony is able to reach this goal. With the way things are going now, it could be possible.
2016 could be an even bigger year for the company as more blockbuster games are underway. Some famous games coming out next year includes Street Fighter 5, The Last Guardian, Horizon: Zero Dawn and of course Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
