The Xbox Live Games with Gold program is pretty great, giving players free games each month just for being a member. Every month Microsoft unleashes a set of new games on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 for free. The only problem so far has been that many fans don’t want to keep their Xbox 360 laying around just for these games.
That issue has now been resolved as Microsoft has announced that all future games offered on Xbox 360 as part of the Xbox Live Games with Gold program will be backwards compatible on Xbox One. This means fans can add the games to their account as normal and immediately download the game on their Xbox One.
The Xbox One backwards compatibility program has been very well received so far, with fans getting to dive into their older titles on the Xbox One with little to no hassle.
While this might limit the offerings that Microsoft can select from for the Xbox Live Games with Gold program, it will ensure that those without an Xbox 360, or those that just don’t want to hook up their old system, can still play the games being made available.
Xbox One backwards compatibility is available now for preview members and will be live for all in November.
