Star Wars Battlefront will be a big game, but not overly large according to the official file sizes release by EA. “Star Wars Battlefront will be a 23GB download on PS4, 19GB on Xbox One and 27GB on Origin,” reads the tweet that released the info. These sizes are certainly large, but not so bad that many players will have to make a ton of room.
Previously leaked info put Star Wars Battlefront at 25GB on PS4, which is close, but a little higher than these final numbers. Whether something was removed, or the developer was simply overestimating is anyone’s guess at this point.
For comparison, Fallout 4 is between 28GB and 35GB, Halo 5 is around 60GB in total, and Rainbow Six: Siege is only 16GB. Star Wars Battlefront doesn’t feature a huge single player campaign that requires tons of art assets and CG cutscenes, so the regular filesize indicates that the maps will be highly detailed.
If you played through the Star Wars Battlefront Beta from a few weeks ago then you already know how great Hoth looks, even on consoles. Snow glitters in the sunlight as player footprints form across the landscape. These graphical effects not only take a lot of processing power, they also require hard drive space for the assets needed to pull them off.
Star Wars Battlefront hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17th.
