The original classic Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3D has just appeared on Steam, making the PC version available for the first time on Valve’s storefront. Previously gamers could only get the title off of other sites, such as GoG. The switch to Steam doesn’t really add much to the game, but for those that prefer getting their games on the platform, it is a nice addition.
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3D is the PC version of the N64 original. The game was previously released in 1998 alongside the N64 version. The official description reads: “It is a time of great rejoicing in the galaxy. Luke Skywalker, with the help of Wedge Antilles, has blown up the Death Star. But there is little time to celebrate. The mighty Empire is gathering strength for a determined, all-out assault on the Rebel forces.
“To save the Rebel Alliance from this Imperial onslaught, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles have assembled the Rogue Squadron, a group of twelve of the most skilled battle-tested starfighter pilots. You will fly into battle as Luke Skywalker, to engage in intense, fast-paced planetary air-to-ground and air-to-air missions ‒ dogfights, search and destroy, reconnaissance, bombing runs, rescue assignments, and more.”
The PC system specs are almost laughable by today’s standards, which makes sense given the age of the game. Still, here they are for reference: OS: Windows 7/8/10. Processor: 1.8 GHz Processor.
Memory: 1 GB RAM. Graphics: 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 (compatible with DirectX 9 recommended). Storage: 168 MB available space.
