Rocket League has truly taken the world by storm since it came out last year. The player base has grown over time and it doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down anytime soon.
Rocket League tweeted earlier today: “Another great milestone! Thanks to all of you, we have now surpassed 15 million players worldwide! #BestCommunityEver”
The game came out on PS4 and PC initially and it became a surprise hit. Its notable rise to fame was when Sony offered the game for free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Word of mouth spread out and everyone bought the game to join in.
Not wanting to miss out, Microsoft’s Xbox One finally received the game in February 2016. The Xbox One version included several DLC items already plus some exclusive vehicle designs.
Psyonix has been smart to keep the game fresh over the past 12 months. They have recently added a Basketball Mode to the game which adds a different spin to the gameplay. They have also released many vehicle designs even adding the Batmobile seen from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
With the success of Rocket League, it will be interesting to see if Psyonix will be planning to release a sequel to the game in the near future. They don’t need to release it yet as the original game is still very popular.
