We have learned previously that Capcom has three major unannounced games that will release by early next year, with one of them in particular seeming like it will be the highly-anticipated Resident Evil 7. Now, to further fuel those rumors comes word from Kantan Games CEO, Dr. Serkan Toto, who claims that the game is in development and will be shown at E3.
Dr. Serkan Toto took to Twitter to share some information on the game, where he says that the game will “go back to RE’s horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate.” He goes on to say that the RE7 team hired a designer who previously worked on Metal Gear Solid 5 and P.T., Jordan Amaro.
Of course, this is all a very big rumor at this point as Capcom has not released any information regarding the next main game in the Resident Evil series. However, Dr. Serkan Toto has proven a reliable source in the past, which makes the likelihood of his statements being true pretty solid at this point.
Capcom has been doing a lot with the Resident Evil series lately, remastering the most recent games while gearing up for a spin-off multiplayer shooter called Umbrella Corps this Summer. A remake of Resident Evil 2 is also in the works, though we currently don’t have any information regarding when that game might be releasing.
Despite the main games in the series going down hill lately, Capcom has found some success with the spin-off Revelations series. There are currently two games in the Revelations series so far, with the last one releasing last year and starring Claire Redfield and Barry Burton. It saw an episodic release before finally being released as a full package in March 2015.
