Pokemon Sun and Moon takes place in the brand new Alola region. Based on the real world islands of Hawaii, many suspected, and a few leaks seemed to confirm, that the game would have a few different islands to explore. Now we have official confirmation from Nintendo and The Pokemon Company themselves that the Alola region of Pokemon Sun and Moon does consist of multiple islands, with some additional details about them.

Update: The new trailer released by The Pokemon Company also dives into the legendary Pokemon in the game, so check that out below.

Pokemon Sun and Moon will feature a total of five different islands for players to roam around and catch Pokemon on. Not all five of these islands will be the same though, with four being “natural” and one artificial. “The Alola region centers around four islands rich in natural beauty and an artificial island. Many Pokémon that have never been seen before occupy these islands,” states the game’s details page.

Along with details about the islands came new info about the inhabitants of them. You will play as a trainer who has just moved to the islands of Alola, setting out on an adventure almost immediately. On that quest you will interact with lots of different people, including…

Professor Kukui, who “is the Alola region’s dependable Pokémon professor. He lives near your home and looks out for you. He’s passionate about his research into Pokémon moves and has sometimes taken direct hits from Pokémon when there was something to be learned from it. Sporting a white lab coat slung casually over his bare torso, he shows off his own unique style.”

He’s not alone though, “Lillie is a mysterious girl who assists the professor. This young girl is about the same age as your character, and she’s working as Professor Kukui’s assistant for personal reasons. She’s not fond of making Pokémon fight in battles, but she loves reading and has devoured many books. Lillie will play an important role in the story of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.” And of course you’ll have some friends too, including Hau, a Pokemon fan who befriends you right when you arrive.

Pokemon Sun and Moon hit Nintendo 3DS on November 18th.
