The backwards compatibility catalog for Xbox One has grown significantly this year.  Just about every game you could possibly hope for has been added to the list, but one continues to dominate the conversation.  Fans are still patiently waiting for Activision and Microsoft to announce backwards compatibility for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Microsoft is apparently inundated with requests for Black Ops 2 to be made backwards compatible for Xbox One.  So much so, that Xbox’s Major Nelson says he’s looking into building an auto reply robot that will respond to fans tweets and requests about the game.

“I may or may not be building a Flow (bot) that would auto reply to BO2 tweets,” said Larry Hyrb via Twitter over the weekend.    Who knows whether the ambassador for all things Xbox was kidding around with fans or not.

There are plenty of Call of Duty games that have arrived for Backwards Compatibility — Call of Duty 2 & 3, the original Black Ops, and World at War are all currently backwards compatible.

But fans may be hoping for something that just isn’t going to happen.  In an era where remasters are common place, and one where Activision has dipped their toes into the remaster game with the recent release of Modern Warfare remastered, the publisher may be holding the game back for a potential remaster down the line.

The inclusion of Modern Warfare Remastered with the high-end versions of Infinite Warfare likely boosted sales for the shooter.  It’s unclear whether Activision is going to make this a yearly thing with the inclusion of a remastered version of fan-favorite games in the series.

Sledgehammer Games is on-deck as the developer for Call of Duty 2017.   They have not yet revealed the setting of the new game.  This will likely occur on the same time table that the previous games have held to.  Though Sledgehammer did do a slight tease just a short while ago that brought about plenty of speculation.
