Nier: Automata Introduces New Areas and Fishing

New gameplay of Nier: Automata was featured at Taipei Game Show 2017.  Producer Yosuke Saito and voice actress Yui Ishikawa took part in the special presentation showcasing new gameplay footages and an exclusive sneak peek at some of the environments illustrated in the game.  Venturing through a marketplace, jumping down a sewer, to exploring the deep forest, players were shown a rundown department store with multiple levels.

Another new location depicted in the game which surprised gamers was when the two main characters, 2B and 9S, reached the entrance to an amusement park where fireworks lit up the sky, admiring the atmosphere.  Next, producer Yosuke Saito revealed an element players can select in the game allowing them to fish.   Not in the traditional way with a fishing rod and bait as seen in Final Fantasy XV, which appeared to be a highlight in the game.  Seeing that Nier takes place in a more futuristic setting, 2B is able to control her robot sidekick to help catch some fish.  The miniature floating robot leaps into the water and swims around until it detects an object.  A neat, clean way to fish, as opposed to manually setting the bait on a hook and reeling it in.  Who knows maybe this might be the norm for fishing in the near future?

The audience also spotted another scene this time on a destroyed highway, with faults and cracks on the road and scattered debris much like an unfinished construction site.  A spin-off of the original Drakengard series, Nier: Automata is set in a world where machines have obliterated mankind, causing them to flee to the moon.  Now inhabited by monstrous droids, it is up YoRHa 2B and partner 9S along with their handy sidekicks to annihilate their foes and establish humanity back to its previous state.  Developed by Platinum Games and published by Square Enix, Nier: Automata is scheduled to be released in Japan on February 23, followed by March 7 in North America for PS4.
