The System Shock series is set to be making a big return in the future, with a remake and a sequel in the works. While the third game was originally announced to only be coming to PC, it looks like there’s a shot that it could end up coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well.

The news comes with the announcement of developer Starbreeze revealing that it has signed a deal with Otherside Entertainment to publish the game, saying that they’ll be bringing the game to PC and other platforms. While they didn’t come out and confirm a release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it certainly seems like that’s what they’re implying. They said that the other platforms in questions are still pending, with more information coming later this year.

Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson-Klint said that “System Shock is one of those iconic franchises in the history of games that still gets my blood going and Mr. Spector is one of the founding fathers of the modern action-RPG. We’re greatly looking forward to bringing System Shock 3 to players worldwide in our collaboration with OtherSide Entertainment and Warren Spector’s team. I’ll be first in line to play.”

It would make sense that the third game in the series would also come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, considering that the remake will be. Night Dive Studios is currently working on the remake, which was funded thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign. The campaign raised $1,350,700 with the help of 21,625 backers, and the game is scheduled to come out in the middle of 2018. It seems to be turning out well so far, with an early demo of the game from last year being well-received.

We’re still waiting for a release date for System Shock 3, as we still don’t even have a vague release window for it due to it still being in the early stages of development. More news on that is expected to come later this year.
